Adaptation refers to everything that can be done to avoid the negative impacts of climate change. In some cases, climate change might also bring about beneficial opportunities. Initiatives exploiting such opportunities are adaptation measures, too. Adaptation cannot halt climate change or its impacts, but it can reduce the impacts. In other words, we must start acting now to minimize our losses and capitalize on our opportunities.
