By preventing the trade in legally owned rhino products, the government ensures that the current trend will continue. By doing so, the government guarantees the extinction of the rhino. Poaching won't stop. The incentives are too strong. The ban on the trade removes supply, increases value, and increases the incentives to poach. The conservationists act in the interest of poachers, not rhinos. The proper solution would be to incentivize rhino breeding so that the population size can grow faster, to mitigate the negative effect of poaching. This implies adding financial value to the emotional value of a rhino. Allowing the trade in rhino products would create financial value and motivate farmers to breed and grow the numbers. Contrary to the false beliefs of the ignorant and naive "conservationists", only farmers can prevent rhinos from becoming extinct.
