A reward that will lead to the arrest of a rhino poaching syndicate that has now poached four rhinos on a farm near Maltahöhe in the Hardap region has now increased to N$1 million after three more carcasses were discovered yesterday. A reward of N$200,000 was initially offered for the arrest that will lead to the conviction of the poachers who recently poached a white rhino cow and orphaned her calf, Elsa. According to the farm owner, whose name is not being mentioned for security purposes, two rhino cows (two sisters of the cow that was recently poached) and a bull calf were found yesterday. The owner thanked rhino owners and others who supported the reward, saying Elsa played a big role in this.
