An ECC was granted to Okatji Marble Mine in 2017 for the existing mining activities taking place on mining claims 65425 and 65426.

The ECC is for the operation of the 220 Omburu - Gerus transmission line. The 220kV Omburu - Gerus line was constructed in 1973 prior to the commencement of the Environmental Management Act and its regulation, as a result there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

The ECC is for the operation of the 66kV Witvlei - Omaheke transmission line. The 66kV Witvlei - Omaheke line was constructed in 1993 prior to the commencement of the Environmental Management Act and its regulation, as a result there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

Grobler Transport Services (Grobler) was issued an ECC in January 2016 for a validity period of three years. However, during the validity period of the ECC, Grobler Transport have been preparing and finalizing contracts and agreements in order to commence with the proposed sand mining activities on the Okahandja River. These contracts and agreements have therefore been recently finalized, thus, they wish to commence with sand mining immediately, hence this ECC Renewal Application. The proposal by Grobler Transport is to extract approximately 130 000 m3 of sand in the first year.

The renewal application for environmental clearance certificate is for: Waste management, treatment, hanadlich and disposal activities 2.1 The construction of facilities for waste sites, treatment of waste and disposal of waste. 2.3 The import, processing, use and recycling, temporary storage, transit or export of waste.
