NamPower 2020. APP-001726: The operation of the 66KV Omburu-Uis transmission line in Erongo Region.

The ECC is for the operation of 66kV Omburu - Uis transmission line. The 66kV Omburu - Uis line was constructed was constructed in 1974 prior to the commencement of the Environmental Management Act and its regulation, as a result there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

The intention is to initially plant fodder for cattle such as Katambora Rhodes grass as well as rotational grain crops such as maize and wheat.
