Renewal Application: Continue operating the emulsion manufacturing plant, which stores and then mixes relatively inert chemicals and oils to produce an emulsified product for use in blasting. Swakop Uranium’s emulsion manufacturing plant at the Husab Mine, which stores and then mixes relatively inert chemicals (ammonium nitrate and sodium nitrate) and oils (used diesel and machine oil) to produce an emulsified product for use in blasting. The product from the plant is a non-explosive yellowish paste.

SLR Environmental Consulting (Namibia) 2020. APP-001626: The renewal of the environmental clearance certificate for the telecommunication transmitter mast at the Husab Mine.

Renewal Application: Continue operating the telecommunication transmitter mast (i.e. cell phone tower) to ensure effective communication for Swakop Uranium’s activities at the Husab Mine plant complex. Swakop Uranium required a telecommunication transmitter mast (i.e. cell phone mast) in order to meet communication requirements at their Husab Mine. As part of the original Husab Mine EIA and the EIA Amendment process, a 30 m high cell phone mast was described and assessed for radio and cell-phone communication repeaters to be installed on site near the plant complex.

NamPower 2020. APP-001631: The operation of the 220KV Auas - Hardap powerline in Khomas and Hardap Regions.

The ECC is for the operation of the 220 kV Auas - Hardap Powerline. The 220kV Auas-Hardap 1 & 2 powerlines were constructed prior to the commencement of the Environmental Management Act and its regulation, as a result there was no environmental impact assessment study conducted for the project prior to its development. It is therefore against this background that NamPower intends to apply for the operational Environmental Clearance Certificate in order to comply to the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) and its regulations.

It is then intension of the proponent to permanently close Erf B (A Portion of Erf 825) St James Street measuring ± 3774 m2 in extent as a Street. The proponent further intends to subdivide Erf 252 into Erf A and Remainder and further consolidate Erf A/252 with Erf B/825. The newly consolidated Erf will be rezoned from Local Authority to Business to be used for Business purposes. The subject site is located within a mixed land use area and would thus be suitable for the proposed development. The exact type of business to be developed on the site is not known.

I.N.K Enviro Consultants 2020. APP-001593: The Renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate for Grobler Transport's Proposed Sand Mining Activities.

Grobler Transport Services (Grobler) was issued an ECC in January 2016 for a validity period of three years. However, during the validity period of the ECC, Grobler Transport have been preparing and finalizing contracts and agreements in order to commence with the proposed sand mining activities on the Okahandja River. These contracts and agreements have therefore been recently finalized, thus, they wish to commence with sand mining immediately, hence this ECC Renewal Application. The proposal by Grobler Transport is to extract approximately 130 000 m3 of sand in the first year.

Renewal of environmental clearance certificate - Skorpion zinc for the conversion of the Nam Zinc refinery facility to process zinc sulphide concentrates in addition to zinc oxide ores, in the !Karas Region, Namibia. The project involves processing of Zinc sulphide concentrates in addition to zinc oxide ores. The mine life was extended from 2017 to 2019 due to the availability of additional ore reserves in the pit. As a result of the mine life being extended, the refinery conversion project was deferred at that time.
