Title:
Angola charms threaten Namibian rhinos
Publication Year:
2026
Abstract:

The use of charms from Angola to enhance poaching activities in Namibia has been a significant concern. Security forces in Namibia report that illegal hunting inside the Etosha National Park has become notorious, with poachers relying on charms sourced from Angola to boost their trade. These charms are said to assist illegal trekkers in stealthily encroaching into the Namibian national reserves and killing wildlife, without being detected or caught. The Omusati police regional commander Ismael Basson confirmed that more than eight rhinos have been killed on the Omusati side of Etosha within just four months. The dark magic involved includes poachers entering the parks with weapons and traditional charms, seeking protection from magicians in Angola.
