Im Laufe dieses Jahres erhielt das Königl. Zool. Museum in Berlin verschiedene kleine Sammlungen von Kriechtieren aus Deutsch- Südwestafrika, durch die unsere Kenntnisse von der herpetologischen Fauna dieses Gebiets eine erfreuliche Erweiterung und Ergänzung erfahren. Stammen doch von insgesamt 26 vorliegenden Arten allein 14 von Fundorten, von denen sie bisher nicht bekannt waren, während 5 weitere Arten zum erstenmal in Deutsch-Südwestafrika gefunden wurden, darunter ein bisher noch völlig unbekannter Frosch. Das in Rede stehende Material verdankt das Berliner Museum den Herren Regierungstierarzt Dr. Schmp in Grootfontein, Geologe Dr. P. Rınee in Kuibis und Dr. Scheben in Rehoboth. Mit Ausnahme der von letzterem Herrn gesammelten Tiere sind alle Stücke von Herrn Dr. Sternfeld bestimmt worden, der auch die Kriechtiere von Deutsch-Südwestafrika für die "Fauna der Deutschen Kolonien" bearbeitet hat.

In the course of this year, the Königl. Zool. Museum in Berlin has various small collections of reptiles from German-South West Africa, through which our knowledge of the herpetological fauna of this area is gratifyingly expanded and supplemented. Of a total of 26 species present, 14 come from sites of which they were previously unknown, while 5 other species were found for the first time in German South West Africa, including a frog that was previously completely unknown. The Berlin museum owes the material in question to the government veterinary surgeon Dr. Schmp in Grootfontein, the geologist Dr. P. Rınee in Kuibis and Dr. Scheben in Rehoboth. With the exception of the animals collected by the latter gentleman, all the specimens have been identified by Dr. Sternfeld, who has also worked on the reptiles of German South West Africa for the "Fauna of the German Colonies".
