Three new species of southern African Bembix, B. namibensis sp. nov., B. zinni sp. nov. and B. karooensis sp. nov. are described, B. jimodi Arnold is sunk into synonymy with B. alula Arnold, and biological notes are given for ten other species of Bembix. The nature of the prey of the genus Bembix with particular reference to Afrotropical species is reviewed and discussed
