Das namibische Umweltministerium (MEFT) hat öffentlich gemacht, dass am vergangenen Wochenende insgesamt acht Verdächtige wegen Nashornwilderei in zwei Fällen festgenommen wurden. Demnach sollen am 6. April zwei Verdächtige ungesetzlich den EtoschaNationalpark betreten und Nashörner gewildert haben. Laut MEFT wurden sie daraufhin in einer mobilen Straßenkontrolle auf der Straße von Tsumeb nach Otavi festgenommen. Zwei frische Nasenhörner wurde in ihrem Besitz gefunden und von den Behörden, geleitet vom "Blue Rhino Task Team", konfisziert.
