The proponent, Mr. Hendrik Dawids intends to process the existing stockpile from the previous mining activities and to continue mining base and rare metals, dimension stones, industrial minerals, and precious metals from the block comprising 10 mining claims; 69236 – 69245, situated at Farm Onguati No. 53, on the mining claims covering a total area of approximately 140 hectares in the backdrop of the Erongo Mountains and therefore an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) is needed to continue undertaking this listed activity in a sustainable manner.
The Proponent intends to extract Industrial mineral resources from the 3 mining claims for commercial purposes. The proposed mine will implement an open cast mining method which is one of the common methods used to extract minerals from the earth. The excavators will be used to access to remove the overburden and access the underneath ore bodies. The mined ore in form of aggregate will be will be sorted and loaded onto trucks for delivery as per customer requirements.
NMED Investment Proprietary (Pty) Limited (Ltd) hold mineral rights under the Exclusive Prospecting License (EPL) 3783 covering an area of 937.0858 hectares for the commodity, dimension stones and they intend to apply for a mining licence to carry out mining activities for the next 20 years after exploration activities proved the area feasible and financially viable.
