The Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) is the regulating legislation that governs all activities that may have a potentially detrimental effect on the receiving environment. The following project activities trigger the need for an EIA in Namibia: Activity 1 - Energy generation, transmission and storage activities: the construction of facilities for the transmission and supply of electricity.

The Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Study is for the construction of a service station on Erf 3289, Mondesa, Swakopmund by Namaza Investments cc. AK Plaza service station is envisaged to be a standard service station, with three islands, three dispensing fuel pumps (petrol and diesel) from a storage of 2 double wall underground storage tanks of 45000 litres. The service station will be part of a larger development, the AK Plaza which is an average sized shopping complex with various service offerings including: a supermarket, doctor’s practice, a pharmacy, toilets and shops.
