This document aims to provide you, as an Interested and/or Affected Party (I&AP), with background information regarding the application for Environmental Clearance Certificate for the proposed 100 MW solar power plant in //Karas Region. (Refer to Section 9: Locality Map), and Section 6 on the required environmental studies to be undertaken.
Kunene Grapes and Citrus Et Al (Proprietary) Limited seeks to become active at planting and harvesting agricultural fruits such as grapes, citrus and avocado plantation in the northern western part of Namibia. Kunene Grapes and Citrus Et Al (Proprietary) Limited has applied for about 670 hectares of land in Otjomaungu village in the Epupa Constituency. The allocated land is granted for grape projects. Kunene Grapes and Citrus Et Al (Proprietary) Limited is a wholly owned Namibian company planting and harvesting grapes, citrus and avocados in the North Western part of Namibia.
The ECC is for the Angola-Namibia Transmission Interconnection Project. Under the Environmental Management Act (Act 7 of 2007) section 27 the activity described as "construction of facilities for the transmission and supply of electricity" requires an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) as it is a listed activity. On 22 September 2020 NamPower was issued the Environmental Clearance Certificate for the Angola-Namibia (ANNA) 400kv transmission interconnection project.
Alten Solar Power Hardap (Pty) Ltd wish to renew their ECC, which expires end of June 2022, in order to continue operations at their Hardap Substation. The Following Regulations were triggered by the activities (Initial ECC Application): Activity 1 (a) Energy Generation, Transmission and Storage The construction of facilities for the generation of electricity. The construction of three 10 MW PV facilities is proposed. Activity 1 (b) Energy Generation, Transmission and Storage The construction of facilities for – the transmission and supply of electricity.
The Environmental Clearance Certificate is for the construction and operation of the 55MW Photovoltaic (PV) Facility at Omaruru in the Erongo region. The ECC covers the PV facility , access road which connects to the C36 Gravel road and a 66kV transmission Line from the PV to Omburu substation. The facility is located on portion 183 (a portion of the farm portion B), of Omaruru Townlands no 85.
