The desk study includes as recommended in the project proposal (EU ACP 2006) the review of previous investigation results (geophysical and hydrogeological investigation programs); compilation and preliminary assessment of environmental conditions, including the description of the geological setup, description of groundwater resources availability and groundwater quality; setting up of a project database, proposal for the upgrading of the existing GROWAS database structure; proposal of geophysical and hydrogeological investigation areas; establishment of a project GIS. The overall objective of the proposed project is to achieve equitable access to and sustainable utilisation of water and related land and other natural resources through the implementation of integrated water resources management in the CEB (EU ACP 2006).
