Abstract:

The applicant Rainy Day Investments Pty Ltd owns a smallholding known as Portion 111 (a portion of Portion 39) of the consolidated Farm Tsumore No. 671 situated within expanded boundary of Tsumeb Municipality in Oshikoto Region. On this property there existing a borrow pit from which gravel materials have been extracted intermittently over many yeas. The applicant would like to obtain an Environmental Clearance Certificate to be able to supply gravel materials to Nampower's 40 mw biomass power plant which is currently under construction about 5 km from the borrow pit. The ECC is therefore required to realign the extraction (mining and quarrying activities) from the borrow pit. There is an existing gravel road of about 700 m which links the borrow pit to the B1 Highway.
