Abstract:

Located in the southern Namib Desert, the Roter Kamm crater has a diameter of 2.5 km with a raised rim, fractured with mostly radial faults, between 40 and 90 m high above the plain. The crater is a bowl-shaped basin filled with sand and brecciated country rock consisting of gneisses intruded by pegmatites and overlain by marble and sandstone.
