Abstract:

Renewal Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) application for semi-precious stones near Otjimuhaka, withing Mining Claim (MC) 70783 and 70784, Epupa Constituency, Kunene Region. The previous ECC was issued to Mr. Jose Cardose Alves who was the owner of the mining claims including 70782. However, the 70783 70784 claims were sold to Mr. Timo Smit who is the current rightful owner (See Transfer Licence from MME attached). Furthermore, the proponent would like to include dimension stone in the ECC, and this will require an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) to be conducted, the EIA process for the inclusion of dimension stone has commenced and will be submitted separately when concluded. Therefore, this is just a renewal of the existing (Expired) ECC which catered for Semi - Precious stones only. Scale and Scope of Activity: The proposed activity focuses on the small-scale mining of semi - precious stone which will take place within the boundaries of known mineralisation within the said Mining Claims.
