Abstract:

The Municipality of Walvis Bay (The Proponent) proposes to establish the townships to be known as Kuisebmond Extensions 14 and 15, Walvis Bay. The proposed development includes the creation of predominantly residential erven, a cemetery, streets and installation of bulk services within the proposed townships. Under the Environmental Management Act (2007) and its Regulations (2012), an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is required for: -Activity 10.1 (a) Infrastructure The construction of oil, water, gas and petrochemical and other bulk supply pipelines (The proposed development includes the installation of bulk services) -Activity 10.1 (b) Infrastructure The construction of public roads (The proposed project includes the construction of roads) -Activity 10.2 (a) Infrastructure The route determination of roads and design of associated physical infrastructure where โ€“ it is a public road; (The proposed project includes the route determination of roads) -Activity 11.2 Construction of cemeteries, camping, leisure and recreation sites (The proposed development includes the provision of an erf to be reserved for the development of a cemetery).
