Abstract:

The renewed Environmental Clearance Certificate is required ongoing dimensions stones (marble) mining and exploration operations in the Mining License (ML) No. 205, Karibib District, Erongo Region West-Central Namibia. Ludi Namibia Mining and Investments (Pty) Ltd (the Proponent) holds minerals rights under the Mining License (ML) No. 205. The ML 205 is situated in the Karibib District, Erongo Region and was granted on the 19/03/2019 and will expire on the 18/03/2029. The ML 205 covers a total area of 502.796 Ha. The total delineated marble resources currently stand at 32 million cubic meters and with the planned ongoing exploration activities to support the mining phase, this amount will increase by fourfold. The ongoing dimension stone mining and exploration operations involve the mining of 5m3 blocks, sorting, storage, transportation to a plant in Karibib /Walvis Bay for final processing and export of finished products. Operations of Ludi Namibia Mining and Investments (Pty) Ltd covers ongoing operational mining and exploration, monitoring and rehabilitation, decommissioning, closure and aftercare once mining has been completed.
