Abstract:

Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) survey using a small aircraft or helicopter across areas of interest over 19 EPLS within the Omaheke and Khomas regions. Listed activities triggered by the project include: Mining and quarrying activities (With relevance here only to exploration activities limited to Airborne Electromagnetic surveying) o (3.1) The construction of facilities for any process or activities which requires a licence, right or other form of authorisation, and the renewal of a licence, right or other form of authorisation, in terms of the Minerals (Prospecting and Mining Act), 1992. 2. Details of the activity(s) covered by the environmental clearance certificate: Title of activity: Exploration activities on EPLs 7528-7543 and 7730 to7732 for base and rare metals, and precious metals in the Omaheke and Khomas regions. Nature of activity: The proposed project is for the exploration of base, rare, and precious metals. As part of the proposed exploration project, the following activities are envisaged, which shall be further defined as the exploration program is refined: - Exploration activities with specific focus on Airborne Electromagnetic (AEM) surveying using a light aircraft over areas of interest across the 19 EPLS, and - Investment in exploring the mineral potential of the Omaheke and Khomas regions. Scale and scope of activity: Exploration activities shall take place within the delineated areas of interest. The following steps are required of the Proponent before such an activity can take place: - Give notice to both direct and indirectly affected parties (I and AP’s) two weeks in advance of the planned survey to take place; - Notification should contain the following, o Survey dates, time and duration, o Purpose of the survey, o Flight altitude, o Survey location, Map of survey area and flight lines, and o Contact details for enquiries. - Unforeseen deviations in the initially provided dates of the survey should be communicated to I and APs in advance.
