Wetland dynamics and conservation: Identifying key factors in the Okavango delta, Botswana
A broad understanding of the structure and functioning of the Okavango delta ecosystem has provided a useful basis for evaluating the kinds of perturbations that are likely to affect the ecosystem as a whole. The importance of considering ecosystem processes and dynamics for planning sustainable resource use and conservation is outlined. Also outlined are the principles that need to be considered for water abstraction and conservation planning.
