The aim of the Namibia Biodiversity Database is to make Namibian biodiversity information, based around species distribution data, accessible to stakeholders. We do not simply aggregate data that is also available elsewhere on the web, but create digitally original information by extracting relevant facts from published work. A significant amount of Namibian biodiversity information is locked up in obscure journals or old books, not readily available in country or digitally, written in strange languages and referring to place names that are unknown today. The Database brings these scattered sources together in one place and interprets them in a consistent way that is relevant for today's biodiversity data user.
