Title:
Similarities in tin mineralization associated with the Brandberg granite of South West Africa/Namibia and granites in northern Nigeria, revealed by geochemical data
Publication Year:
1988
Abstract:
The Brandberg granite, an alkaline lithosome of Jurassic age, and a swarm of associated pegmatites were emplaced into a NE-trending tectonic lineament zone within the Pan-African Damara Orogen. Enrichment of trace elements such as Sn, Nb, Zr, Rb and others within the granite as well as the REE pattern of monazites indicate that the originally intruded rocks were chemically altered by fluids rising in fractures during re-activation of the pre-existing tectonic lineament. The structure of the Brandberg intrusion resembles that of approximately coeval granite masses in northern Nigeria.
