Background for The Pilot Project: Namibian costal waters are one of the most biologically productive upwelling areas in the world: these waters support living resources which live and breed at the coastal waters off Namibia. These areas are rich in mineral resources at the seabed, including deposits of phosphates which are potential mining commodity for fertilizer.
