Title:

Eco-physiological responses of ungulates towards heat and drought in the Damaraland desert of Namibia

Abstract:

Due to global climate change and overly use by humans, many ecosystems are under the threat of desertification. How do wildlife species respond to heat and drought in natural ecosystems? Are they capable to withstand increasing aridity and the increasing encroachment of humans into their habitats? To answer these questions, we study the spatial movements and dietary preferences of oryx (Oryx gazella) and springbok (Antidorcas marsupialis) in the Namib desert. Here, we present our methodological approach and some preliminary data.
