We describe a new species, Gonialoe borealis from the northern part of the Namib Desert in southern Angola. It is most closely allied to G. dinteri and G. sladeniana. From G. dinteri it differs by its smaller stature and by flowering in summer; from G. sladeniana it is distinguished by the differently oriented leaves.
