Classification of Southern African Mammals. Orders Artiodactyla and Pholidota
Southern Africa, the area south of the Zambezi and Cunene Rivers, has a rich mammal fauna. 328 species representing 15 of the 20 orders of extant mammals are formally recognised. Full synonomies are provided for genera, species and subspecies. A consensus classification is provided and many remaining systematic problems are discussed.
