Abstract:

The orientation behaviour of Pachyphaleria capensis (Laporte), a psammo-halophilic tenebrionid beetle of southwestern Africa, was investigated. Skototaxis and pilotage are the main mechanisms adopted by the beetle to escape solar radiation.
