Abstract:

This paper examines trends in population and resource use in Namibia, seeking to identify the critical issues and address two questions in particular: (i) how has population growth affected renewable natural resources to date? (noting but not exploring other factors that have contributed to environmental change) (ii) given environmental and other constraint: can Namibia's renewable resources support a doubling of the population every 23 years?
