Homopus sp. is associated with weathered granite outcrops in southwestern Namibia where it uses cracks and crevices for thermoregulation purposes and defence. The orientation of cracks and crevices selected as retreat are mainly westward facing. Movement is limited and activity ranges are less than 1ha in size. Lichens are included in the diet of free ranging tortoises.
