Abstract:

Listed activities triggered by the project include: LISTED ACTIVITY EIA SCREENING FINDING ENERGY GENERATION, TRANSMISSION AND STORAGE ACTIVITIES 1(b) The transmission and supply of electricity. A 11kV overhead powerline constructed approximately 8.1km from the B2Gold solar plant on the farm Wolfshag to Erhardshof is supplying power. FORESTRY ACTIVITIES (4.) The clearance of forest areas, deforestation, aforestation, timber harvesting or any other related activity that requires authorisation in term of the Forest Act, 2001 (Act No. 12 of 2001) or any other law. A total of 90 ha has been cleared for the agricultural project. Consisting of 6 x 15 ha irrigation areas with six pivot systems. The proponent proposes to expand the project with an additional 90 ha. This will include 3 x 30 ha areas with 3 pivot sytems. WATER RESOURCE DEVELOPMENTS (8.1) The abstraction of ground or surface water for industrial or commercial purposes. (8.7) Irrigation schemes for agriculture excluding domestic irrigation. There are currently 8 licenced boreholes supplying the project with water. The proponent is in the process of applying for an additional 8 boreholes. HAZARDOUS SUBSTANCE TREATMENT, HANDLING AND STORAGE (9.1) The manufacturing, storage, handling or processing of a hazardous substance defined in the Hazardous Substance Ordinance, 1974. (9.4) The storage and handling of a dangerous goods, including petrol, diesel, liquid petroleum gas or paraffin, in containers with capacity of more than 30 cubic meters as any one location. There are 2 x 2000-liter diesel tanks installed on-site. The proponent wishes to install an additional 10,000-liter of diesel storage on the farm.
