Abstract:

Listed activities triggered by the project include: LISTED ACTIVITY EIA SCREENING FINDING ENERGY GENERATION, TRANSMISSION AND STORAGE ACTIVITIES (1.a) The construction of facilities for the generation of electricity; (1.b) The construction of facilities for the transmission and supply of electricity. Erection of internal 6.6kV overhead lines (or cables and associated trenching) connecting the Wind Turbines to the wind farm Switching Station (located at the 4th wind turbine). Drilling for Erection of a 6.6kV overhead power line (or cables and associated trenching) linking the proposed 8MW Wind Farm Switching Station to the existing Sperrgebiet Diamond Mining substation. Wind Energy Generation and Maintenance (for 25 Years). Decommissioning (After 25 Years) / Retrofit of Facility /Upgrade of Facility. WASTE MANAGEMENT, TREATMENT, HANDLING AND DISPOSAL ACTIVITIES (2.2) Any activity entailing a scheduled process referred to in the Atmospheric Pollution Prevention Ordinance, 1976. (2.3) The import, processing, use and recycling, temporary storage, transit or export of waste. The construction and operational maintenance of the Wind Farm will be associated with limited waste. All generated solid waste will be disposed of at Lüderitz waste disposal site. Additionally, chemical toilets will be available during construction activities. FORESTRY ACTIVITIES 4. The clearance of forest areas, deforestation, aforestation, timber harvesting or any other related activity that requires authorisation in term of the Forest Act 2001 (Act No.12 of 2001) or any other law. Limited vegetation may be removed in the process of site/ground preparations. INFRASTRUCTURE 10.2 The route determination of roads and design of associated physical infrastructure where - 10.2 (a) It is a public road; 10.2 (b) The road reserve is wider than 30 meters; or 10.2 (c) The road caters for more than one lane of traffic in both directions. An access road may be created by upgrading the existing service tracks as required.
