Seven suspects were arrested last month in connection with wildlife crimes, with four fake rhino horns amongst products seized by the police. This according to the latest wildlife crime statistics report issued by the police and the environment ministry. Three newly registered wildlife crime cases were reported. In Karibib, three Namibian men were arrested on 19 April for being in the possession of a full mountain zebra carcass. Moses Frans, Josef Muti Kanyawa and Daniel Sharukanda were charged for the removal of game found dead, the transport of game meat, illegal hunting of protected game and inability to give satisfactory account of possession. In another case at Opuwo, three Namibian men were arrested for being in possession of four fake rhino horns on 17 April. Tjimbari Tjitaura, Museveni Uakazapi and Ngatjijande Rutjindo were charged with attempting, conspiring and inducing another person to commit an offence under the Riotous Assemblies Act. Titus Kawoonwa Ndakenongo was charged with illegal possession of and dealing in controlled wildlife products.
