APP-003323: An investigation of the influence of replacement of fishmeal with sealmeal (Arctocephalus pusillus pusillus) on the physiological and growth parameter of Oreochromis andersonii and O. niloticus diets
The ECC is to provide or exempt clearance for an experimental study that will be conducted at an isolated campus of UNAM also known as Sam Nujoma Marine and Research Center (SANUMARC) in Hentisbay. The 20000 swim up fry of fresh water Nile tilapia species will be imported from Thailand for research purposes only for a period of 4 - 6 month. The research is intended for a PhD study which will provide the aquaculture industry with scientific information on growth, feeding, and survival rates performances of local species vs commercial tilapia species. It will also compare the optimal use of seal meal inf fish diets by replacing fishmeal hence reducing feed cost and potential provide a feeding formulae to produce fish feed.
