Title:

APP-002908: The Iipumbu Ya Tshilongo Conservancy's Proposed construction of a dam, Oshana Region, Namibia

Publication Year:
2021
Abstract:

The Iipumbu Ya Tshilongo Conservancy intends on obtaining an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for the construction of a dam with an increased water carrying capacity, that will be used as a source of drinking water for various animals, such as Kudu, Elephant, Springbok, Duiker, Oryx, Red Hartebeest, Ostrich, Eland, Spotted Hyena, Black Hyena, jackal, Guinea Fowl, Lion, Kori Bustard, Secretary Bird, Zebra, Giraffe, Kudu and livestock such as cattle, goats and sheep in the area. The excavation of the dam in the IYTC is required due to the lack of water sources that can keep and sustain water for a long period of time or until the next rainy season. Therefore, the proposed dam is required to mitigate the death of wildlife during the dry seasons as a result of drought.
