Six suspected rhino poachers and one ivory smuggler were arrested last week. The three accused of poaching a heavily pregnant white rhino cow at a lodge in the Gobabis district last weekend are Messrs. Zondundi Tjipuiko, Frederik Hamukoto and Tjimbaka Mbatiminua. They were arrested after farmers, the K9 anti-poaching unit and trackers followed their tracks to the informal settlement in Gobabis where they fled by vehicle. Gobabis' police have set up a roadblock outside the town where the three were allegedly arrested with a shotgun and 22 cartridges in their possession. The suspects with the rhino horns are still wanted.
