Title:

APP-001949: Environmental Management Plan (EMP) for activities associated with the Vamumwa Recreational Park, located approximately 2km from Outapi Town, Omusati Region, Namibia

Publication Year:
2020
Abstract:

The Vamumwa Rest Camp and Recreational Park (hereinafter referred to as Vamumwa), intends on obtaining an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC) for their current and operational recreational park and associated activities. The park is located 2 km out of Outapi Town, along the Outapi-Ruacana main road. The park provides a wide range of recreational activities for the local, regional and national community. The park, measuring approximately 6.9 hectares (ha), was constructed in 2017 and started its operations in November 2019, on a communal designated land on the outskirts of Outapi town. Furthermore, Vamumwa is in the process of applying for lease hold at the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Land Reform (MAWLR). As part of the requirements by the MAWLR, Vamumwa is expected to attach an ECC to the lease hold application, hence this application. In addition, Vamumwa is in the process of ensuring that all the required legal permits and certificates for their operations are in place. Therefore, Vamumwa intends on obtaining an Environmental Clearance Certificate from the Ministry of Environment, Forestry and Tourism, which would provide an environmental clearance to run their operations through the implementation of appropriate management and mitigation measures as outlined in the EMP.
