Publication Year:
2020
Abstract:

The proponent (Olivia Platt) proposes to carry out small-scale quarrying and processing of mudstone/ shale/ siltstone/ slate/ sandstone rocks for production of slate stone floor and wall tiles on mining claim 72110 -72111 in the Hardap Region. Mining Claim 72110 - 72111 is situated north of the Gibeon village in the south western areas of the Hardap Region. The site can be accessed via the B1 road approximately 55 km south from Mariental Town. In line with the Environmental Management Act (EMA) No. 7 of 2007 and it's Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Regulations of 2012, exploration and mining of mineral resources is a listed activity which may not be undertaken without an Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC). Hence, the proponent would like to apply for an ECC for the proposed activities.
