Abstract:

The Renewal of the Environmental Clearance Certificate is for: Activity 5.1 (a) Land Use and Development Activities. The Rezoning of Land from Residential use to industrial or commercial use. 2. Details of the Activity(s) covered by the Environmental Clearance Certificate: 2.1 Title of Activity Proposed Industrial Township Development and Associated Infrastructure, on the remainder of Portion 137, of Farm Brakwater No. 48, Windhoek (Khomas Region). 2.2 Location of Activity The Portion Remainder 137 of the Farm Brakwater No. 48 is situated in the central parts of the larger Brakwater, west of the existing Motocross Track on Portion H/48 and the four-lane freeway from Windhoek to Okahandja, Khomas Region. 2.3 Nature of Activity The proposed project entails the subdivision of land as well as rezoning the property from residential to industrial in order for the proposed establishment of an Industrial Township and associated infrastructure. 2.4 Scale and Scope of the Activity The proposed activity (establishment of an Industrial Township and associated infrastructure) will consist of subdividing and rezoning land into 16 to 20 erven within the 21,5616 ha Portion Re/137. The overriding land use in the surrounding area of Portion Re/137 has changed from residential to industrial with most plots conducting industrial / business activities already. To date, and as a result of various reasons, construction of the proposed development has not yet commenced.
