Pachydactylus fasciatus has remained a poorly known gecko, and since its description in 1888 only 15 specimens have been collected. Based on a series of 20 additional specimens collected by the authors from northern Damaraland, Namibia, notes on the taxonomic history, the status of the syntypes, the habitat preference, biology and distribution of the species are given. A complete synonymy for the species is presented, and a lectotype is designated.
