Abstract:
Author disagrees with the southern populations of Melaenornis pammelaina arranged into four races by W. J.Lawson, and his conclusions after study are that there are only two racial groupings maintainable in zoogeographical South Africa - M. p. diabolicus, the latter race occuring in northern, northeastern and eastern Bechuanaland. Current name: Southern Black Flycatcher.
