Educationalists have long argued about how we learn and how school learning can be related to the environment. The project takes from John Dewey the idea that "children are people. They grow into tomorrow only as they live today". So the educational development of a person is inseparable from the "being" which that person is. As people grow, they continue to organise, structure and re-structure their experiences in the light of what they already know and understand.
