Namibia is covered extensively by a group of soils known as Arenosols in the classification of the World Reference Base(FAO, 1998). This article looks at their definition, characteristics, distribution in Namibia as found during a national soil survey(ICC/MAWRD, 2000), their potential and problems for agriculture, and gives some management suggestions.
