An environmental and social management plan is an integrated plan for addressing potential environmental and social impacts arising from a project. ESMPs cannot provide explicit guidance on all aspects of a project, but should provide the basis for addressing the impacts identified in the EIA. The ESMP must be developed and elaborated as the project progresses towards construction and operation. This ESMP must be made available to contractors and site personnel before the start of each activity. An environmental and social impact management induction session must be conducted for all employees and contractors prior to commencement of duty. The ESMP should be included in all tender documents to ensure that environmental and social compliance is achieved.
