Title:
Fire, resprouting and variability: a recipe for grass-tree coexistence in savanna
Publication Year:
2000
Abstract:
Worldwide savanna ecosystems are dominated by grasses and trees. An understanding of how these interact is the key to understanding savanna function and predicting its response to environmental change. The aim of this study was to develop an alternative model that focuses on the impact of disturbance on grass/tree interactions. Keywords: bush encroachment, coexistence, environmental Change, fire, non-equilibrium dynamics, spacially explicit individual-based model, storage effect.
