An interesting recapture
On 12.09.2009 I recaptured a ringed red-billed quelea at my home in Klein Windhoek. (Ring No. FH27783). So? There are millions of them out there - what's so special about that? That's just it. According to the SAFRING website (which has not been updated for some time) only 147 (0.25%) of the 58 296 red-billed queleas ringed in southern Africa have ever been recaptured while there have been 445 (0.76%) recoveries.
