Abstract:

The analysis of a bone accumulation generally involves three sorting steps. The first aims to remove all bone pieces which can be identified specifically; the second to place as many bones as possible in broader taxonomic categories, while the third deals with the residue. Antelope size classes used in the second sorting stage are defined and terminology for bone fragments in the residue suggested. Keywords: Assemblage, Bone accumulations, Quaternary sites, South Africa.
