The Waterberg-plateau Park is located 20 15' to 20 25' S. lat. and 17 5' to 17 28' E. long. The park is approximately 64 kilometres east of the town of Otjiwarongo. The vegetation can be descriptionbed as a homogenous deciduous tree savanna where the shrublayer has become closed thicket of mainly Acacia ataxacantha and Ochna pulchra. The vegetation of the Waterberg-plateau Park was classified into six major communities which were divided into a further 23 smaller units.
