Acknowledging the possibility of extending its sovereign rights over undersea territory peacefully and with the support of the International Community, Namibia endeavoured in a thorough effort to meet the requirements of UNCLOS (United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea). The project involved not only the elaboration of a detailed Desktop Study in order to find out the pertinence of Namibia's claim, but also a dedicated oceanographic survey with state-of-the-art technology for the systematic data gathering and processing, which was further analysed onshore.
