Abstract:

We present here a first assessment of the potential impacts of anthropogenic climate change on the structure, function and biodiversity of the Namibian flora and vegetation, projected for 2050 and 2080 according to leading climate change scenarios and climate models (Hadley Center's HADCM3 General Circulation Model (Gordon et al., 2000) using the A2 and B2 IPCC SRES socio-economic development scenarios (Nakicenovic & Swart 2000).
